TP Transport Management

A bit about me.

I entered the transport industry at 18, working in the warehouse and making deliveries for my father’s haulage business, learning about customer service, keeping promises and exceeding expectations through high attention to detail and high levels of communication.

After gaining my HGV class 1 licence in 1990, I worked as a driver gaining valuable experience across many load types, multi drop, tramping, containers, roping and sheeting and curtain siders.

The interest in transport planning and management was strong, so I enrolled at night school in 1995 and studied for the Transport Manager CPC in National Road Transport Operations, passed the exam and entered into first-line management as a transport operations controller and deputised for the TM, getting a taste for the role.

TM roles followed across the next 25 years for Tradeteam DHL, Marks & Spencer DHL, C Butt Ltd and Travis Perkins, which I thoroughly enjoyed and found the learning never stopped.

Re-taking the National and International TM CPC in 2008, now in the modern format, was completed and gaining the IOSH safety qualification in 2017 was added to improve the awareness and understanding of this important area.

In 2021, I wanted to try something new so I took the plunge and set up as a sole trader and formed TP Transport Management, offering my services as an External TM and Transport Compliance Consultant and built up a small but select portfolio of clients in the East Midlands region which I still do to the present day and I love the work and the diversity that this journey has brought.

I qualified as a FORS Auditor in 2022 and carry out annual reapproval audits to the Bronze standard for FORS members, and in 2026, I qualified as a FORS Practitioner.

As of June 1st 2026, I am faced with a drop off in work, meaning I have 2 / 3 days per week of availability, can travel a reasonable distance to a place of work or can work remotely.
