I provide practical, hands-on Transport Management and transport compliance consultancy to commercial vehicle operators, helping businesses maintain high standards of legal compliance, vehicle maintenance and driver management.

As an External Transport Manager, I provide ongoing management and oversight of Operator Licence compliance, including maintenance planning, inspection and defect systems, driver compliance, licence checks, tachograph analysis, corrective actions, record keeping and preparation for DVSA and Traffic Commissioner scrutiny. I also carry out compliance reviews and audits to identify weaknesses before they become enforcement issues.

I have been involved in a number of operator compliance audits and have experience supporting operators through regulatory scrutiny, including involvement in a Public Inquiry with a positive outcome. This has given me valuable experience in identifying areas of risk, implementing corrective actions and helping operators demonstrate that effective systems and controls are in place.

My tachograph work includes analysis of driver and vehicle data, identification and investigation of infringements, driver debriefing and corrective action, helping operators understand the underlying causes of infringements rather than simply recording them. I can also provide training in relation to driver's hours where required.

I also have a strong practical background in commercial vehicle maintenance and workshop operations. This gives me a detailed understanding of the maintenance standards expected of HGV operators and allows me to work effectively with workshops, maintenance providers and operators when reviewing inspection regimes, defects, repairs and maintenance records.

Alongside transport management and consultancy, I have experience with LOLER examinations and lifting equipment compliance, as well as broader commercial vehicle inspection and compliance work. I can therefore offer clients a wider practical understanding of vehicle, workshop and equipment safety alongside their Operator Licence obligations.

My approach is straightforward and practical: identify what the regulations require, establish what the operator actually does, and then put effective systems in place to close any gaps. I aim to provide operators with clear advice, reliable ongoing support and the confidence that their transport operation is being properly managed and is ready for regulatory scrutiny.
