The team behind External Transport Manager is expanding into the United States with DOT Compliance Companies, a separate platform for American motor carriers and the specialists who support them.
ETM will remain focused on the UK. Our member accounts, profiles, enquiries and Transport Manager services are not being moved or combined with the US site. DOT Compliance Companies has its own brand, service structure and provider network, written for US terminology and the way federal and state carrier compliance works.
Why we built a separate American platform
Our work in Britain has shown that operators get better results when they can look for the exact help they need. A company seeking a nominated Transport Manager has a different requirement from one preparing an operator licence application, reviewing maintenance records or responding to DVSA action.
The same principle applies in America, but the services are different. US carriers may need help with USDOT registration, operating authority, driver qualification (DQ) files, drug and alcohol testing, the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, ELD records, hours-of-service compliance, permits, FMCSA safety audit preparation, CSA performance or state filings.
FMCSA’s official Getting Started with Registration guidance shows how safety registration, operating authority, state requirements and the New Entrant programme can form separate parts of the same carrier’s position. Ongoing compliance then depends on the records and controls used in daily operation.
DOT Compliance Companies was built around those specific tasks. Carriers can browse by service, search by state or send a request when they need help defining the work. Providers can create profiles that set out the services they offer and the areas they cover.
What we have carried across from ETM
The US site does not copy UK rules. What it carries across are practical lessons from External Transport Manager. Broad labels are not enough because a carrier needs to know whether a provider handles the precise service, state and type of operation involved. Provider profiles also need room to explain experience and scope. The platform must be honest about its limits as well.
DOT Compliance Companies is independent. It is not FMCSA, a regulator or a law firm, and a listing is not a government approval. Carriers remain responsible for checking a provider’s qualifications, experience, availability and terms before appointing them.
The service range includes DOT physicals, drug and alcohol testing programs, SAP evaluations, DQ files, Clearinghouse support, FMCSA filings, New Entrant Safety Audit preparation, mock audits, ELD and log reviews, CSA improvement, DataQs Requests for Data Review, IFTA, IRP, state permits, hazmat, training, insurance, legal services and outsourced safety management.
A new market, with the UK service unchanged
This expansion gives our wider transport network a genuine US presence while allowing ETM to stay focused on British operators, Transport Managers and compliance providers. There is no change to how UK members register, receive enquiries, manage profiles or choose membership.
The two platforms serve different regulatory markets, but they share the same working idea: make it easier for a transport business to find a specialist who understands the problem in front of them.

Request quotes from UK transport managers and consultants
Send one request through ETM and invite suitable listed providers to respond. Any quotes received are shown in your ETM dashboard and sent by email; responses depend on provider availability. Providers can help with operator licence compliance, DVSA audit preparation, drivers’ hours, maintenance systems and more.
